Interested in new ways of addressing community needs?  Then check out the Kenan Institute's ACCORD initiative, which plans to partner young, emerging artsits with local nonprofits and governmental agencies to address community needs and issues related to culture, identity and inequity.

ARTStem

An initiative inspired by artists and scholars who efface the lines between "the arts" and the "STEM" disciplines of science, engineering, technology and mathematics.  ARTStem will bring UNCSA faculty together with public school educators for an academic summer seminar and a year of creative teaching collaborations and programming.

BREATHE Faculty Professional Development at UNCSA

Find out what the deeply passionate and highly creative UNCSA faculty and staff have explored during their summer 2009 projects in Scotland, Brazil and the US Gulf Coast. The proposal process for summer 2010 has begun.  How will these projects impact their students at UNCSA?

International Educator Workshop

In partnership with the North Carolina Arts Council (NCAC), and the Lincoln Center for the Arts in Education (LCI), the Kenan Institute for the Arts will develop two professional workshops during 2009-2010 to develop the infrastructure for a regional International Educator Workshop to he held on the UNCSA campus in the summer of 2010.

LINKS Commissioning Project

We celebrate the culmination of the LINKS Commissioning Projects in partnership with the University of North Carolina School of the Arts School of Music with four world premiere performances on campus during 2009-10.

Magnolia Baroque Festival

The Big Screen: Treasures from the UNCSA Moving Image Archive presents twelve acclaimed and rare films at UNCSA's Main film theatre through October 2010.

The William R. Kenan, Jr. Fellowships

In partnership with the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) and with generous support from the William R. Kenan, Jr. Trust and Fund for the Arts, the William R. Kenan, Jr. Fellowships at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education, and the Penland School of Crafts provide UNCSA graduates with exceptional opportunities to broaden their experiences as artists and to expand both their skill and career development.

UNCSA Southeastern Regional Entertainment Technology Conference

This three-day conference features Cirque du Soleil’s Resident Shows Division, with demonstrations of Cirque’s cutting-edge automation techniques, rigging, show creation, and digital projection systems. This project is a collaboration between the Kenan Institute, UNCSA School of Design and Production and Cirque du Soleil.
